Stuart Hill's musical training included piano, guitar, banjo, and the Native American flute. He has been playing the Native American flute since 2003. Stuart believes that the flute is an instrument that truly allows a person to portray their heart and soul. Many of his original pieces reflect individual experiences and interactions with nature. He is a member of the World Flute Society; the Northern Virginia and the Winchester Flute Circles — two local groups that meet to share music and flute-related interests. Stuart played flutes in a hospice weekly for eight years. He has performed at coffee shops and cafes, for elementary and middle schools groups, private parties, art exhibit openings, for children’s day camps, and in other public venues. He has appeared at: Jammin Java (Vienna, VA), Ovations Restaurant (Wolftrap Park, Vienna, VA), Bankok Blues (Falls Church, VA), and the Bombay Tandoor Restaurant in Tysons Corner. Stuart has been teaching yoga for 12 years and regularly plays flute during those classes. Stuart is available to provide performances ranging in time from 15-90 minutes. He tells the story of the Native American Flute and demonstrates several of the instruments from his collection; and performs various selections from his four CDs. For some venues, he provides percussion instruments and invites the audience to join in on several songs.
