Suicide kills the soul and eternity is no walk in the park
if you are in hell and suicides go there as we will see. 10.7 teens between 15
and 19 committed suicide last year alone. Governments blame it on anti-depressants;
either taking them can cause it, which it surely can and in some cases not
tasking them caused it, which I would doubt very strongly and I have valid
reasons for saying that.
Every minute in the USA and Canada someone attempts suicide,
every 60 seconds.Mental anguish,
suffering, pain and consternation are only a few of the many reasons for this
startling statistic. I say that it is because Christians are doing as poor job
of being a part of the lives of their children, friends, relatives and the kid
across the street. Christ presented as He is supposed to be and shown as He is
supposed to be would create a far better place than personal and private
Christianity….simply put, open your mouth and let out God’s Good news which is
Jesus and do more than shout at the next organized sporting event and you just
might find a real difference will be made in the life of someone else and even
in your own.
Suicide is not only personal but it also affects entire
families causing untold grief and sorrow. I have known of people who followed a
loved one in suicide so they would not b without them and now they both are in
hell, together in eternal torment.
There are four suicides mentioned in God’s Word:
1)Saul ( I Samuel 31:4-5)
2)Ahithophel ( II Samuel 17:23)
3)Zimri ( I Kings 16:18)
4)Judas ( Matthew 27:5)
Some people would classify Samson as a suicide; however, I
do not think so. I feel he died combating forces of evil and gave his life in
the work of God, why else would God give him his strength back…to send him to
hell or make him a statistic, I think not! I am sure he knew his actions would
mean certain death yet he gave his life. He would destroy the enemies of God’s
people and thereby perform a tremendous service. It was not a suicide.
As far as we know, all the people we have mentioned died
lost, except Samson. There is no record that any of these people called out to
God in their last minutes and seemingly to follow suit, God as had been done
with others would have said or allowed the Holy Spirit through the writers to
tell us of such a turn of events. Without exception each of these suicides
followed a long series of disobediences to god that climaxed in this deadly
deed.It is Satan’s business to destroy
a person (John 10:10). He steals Kills and Destroys. This is his ultimate goal
–to drive a person to the place where he would take his own life. Therefore,
Satan is the one behind this terrible act.
I feel from my study of the Word of God that all suicides
die lost, with one exception, and we will see this in a moment. A suicide
actually breaks many commandments. The sixth commandment says “Thou shalt not
kill.” The suicide kills, committing his own murder. Consequently there is no
way to ask God’s forgiveness. There are no second chances in eternity.First, Second and Third chances are on this
side of the grave. Now we see the question, Can a person ask God for
forgiveness, then commit suicide and the deed be forgiven by God?NO!That cannot happen. Jesus said in the fourth chapter of Matthew “Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.”
John said, “Shall we continue in sin
that grace may abound?” (Romans 6:1).
This is a fallacy that some people have been led to believe. An act of this
nature cannot be perpetrated by premeditating the deed and asking for forgiveness
before it is done. That is frustrating the grace of God, and it automatically
negates itself.
There is an area where I believe suicides are saved and not
lost. It is terrible thing for a person to be driven to this point of despair,
but it is worse for a Christian. A Christian should cast all of his cares and
anxieties on the Lord. Jesus came, that we might t have life and have it more
abundantly. There are problems, but God gives us victory over those problems if
we walk in obedience to the Word of God and rely on Him. The sad fact is this:
In spite of the great teaching of the Word of God and the victory afforded by
Jesus Christ, some Christians find themselves in perilous straits. If a
Christian becomes mentally disturbed and due to temporary or permanent total
insanity (which I believe is demon possession and could be handled by true
prayer, etc) committed suicide, I believe this person would not be held
responsible by God and would die in a saved condition, simply because the
individual was not responsible for his actions.
Some would ask or say aren’t all suicides either insane or
temporarily so? Even though a would be suicide may be under great stress, I
certainly do not agree they are all insane or even temporarily insane. We come
back to the final conclusion. When it comes to a Christian, no one can answer
that but God. No one knows the state of that individuals mind except God. We
have this infallible promise found in Genesis 18:25: “Shall not the judge of
all the earth do right?”
